How do I travel by train with my bike?
Generally speaking, while it is not difficult to travel by train with your bike, it does require a little preparation.
If your bike is foldable or dismantled, no problem, you can take it with you for free in its cover if it does not exceed certain dimensions (130 x 90 cm in general) on TER, TGV INOUI and INTERCITES trains. It will then be considered hand luggage!
If you can't or don't want to disassemble or fold your bike, you can travel for free on TER and Transilien trains, but a reservation will be required for €10 when purchasing your train ticket on TGV and INTERCITES. Look for the "bike" icon to find your carriage!
For OUIGO, a reservation is necessary thanks to the “bike” option which costs €5.
In the Occitanie region, reserving a bike on the train is free. Find all the information you need to take your bike on board – liO SNCF Occitanie train.
