In the 17th and 18th centuries, Beaucaire was a trading hub thanks to the Madeleine Fair, during which Beaucaire became a free trade zone and, thanks to its port on the Rhône, attracted merchants from all over the kingdom and the Mediterranean. During this period, the town experienced incredible growth, and magnificent private mansions and beautiful residences were built there.
