Visite guidée à l'assaut de la Forteresse Médiévale

RV place Raimond VII Au pied de la Forteresse 30300 Beaucaire

Museum Overview

Opt for a guided tour of the Beaucaire Fortress, the former residence of the Counts of Toulouse, to discover the history of this medieval wall and its polygonal tower.

Did you know?
Bull races were organized on the upper part of the fortress site; the chapel had become a bullring.

Your tour guide invites you to delve into the past of Beaucaire.

Before becoming the seat of a seneschal's court administering royal possessions in the South of France, the fortress of Beaucaire was first the residence of the Counts of Toulouse. Having suffered numerous destructive assaults, such as the siege of 1216, a significant episode of the Albigensian Crusade, the fortress still bears beautiful vestiges that bear witness to its distant and glorious past.

From the top of the tower, a panorama will unfold before your eyes, from the hills of Beaucaire to the Alpilles, passing by the Montagnette and Mont Ventoux.
