Description
The La Clé des Champs route offers a beautiful bike ride, accessible to all, ideal for a family outing. From the Beaucaire Tourist and Heritage Centre, you set off on quiet little roads that wind through the fertile Beaucaire plain. The landscapes alternate between fruit-filled orchards, silvery olive groves, orderly vineyards, and old farmhouses that bear witness to the rural richness of the region.
After enjoying these rural surroundings, the route joins the Rhône-Sète Canal and the ViaRhôna for a gentle return to Beaucaire. The flat and safe route runs peacefully alongside the canal lined with plane trees and offers lovely views of the surrounding countryside.
Easy and pleasant, La Clé des champs is a perfect itinerary for a gentle discovery of the Terre d'Argence, between nature, heritage and authenticity.
Departing from the Tourist and Heritage House, 8 rue Victor Hugo in Beaucaire.
1/ Take rue Danton on the right, which leads you towards the port of Beaucaire and follow the Quai Général de Gaulle.
2/ At the end of the quay, dismount and cross the bridge.
3/ Take the direction of Fourques, at the traffic lights continue straight on under the railway line.
4/ At the Croix Couverte, turn right onto Chemin de Beauvoir and continue on this path for 6 km.
5/ Turn right onto Chemin Vegère, then left onto Route de la Plaine for 1km.
6/ At the crossroads, turn right onto Chemin du Mas de Forton, then left onto Chemin de la Cabanette.
7/ Then turn left onto Chemin de Saujan, then right onto Route du Mas Maillan and cross the Philippe Lamour canal, then turn right onto Chemin des Jonquières for 1,4 km.
8/ Turn right onto Terres Longues, then left onto Chemin des Ormeaux, then right onto Chemin de Lampourdans for 6 km.
9/ Carefully cross the D6113 to reach the path opposite.
10/ Take the Old Chemin de Bellegarde on the right for 4,6 km, go around the roundabout towards the Port of Bellegarde.
11/ Turn left onto Avenue de Tabarly and continue to the port. Cross the bridge and turn left onto Quai Paul Riquet, then take the ViaRôna/Eurovélo17 on the quay to go under the bridge towards Beaucaire.
12/ Cross to the other bank using the Charanconne bridge.
13/ Continue on Quai de la Paix and turn left onto Avenue de la Plaine.
14/ At the roundabout, take the first right onto Quai de la Paix.
15/ After the bridge, turn left before the statue of the Clairon bull, then right onto Quai Général de Gaulle, then left onto Rue Frédéric Mistral and Rue Danton until you reach the Maison du Tourisme et du Patrimoine.
