This is the typical vegetation of the South of France. Just by saying its name, it sings of the South and smells of Provence! The Land of Argence is not lacking and counts among its mosaic of landscapes, made of fertile plains and Camargue marshes, the great arid expanses of garrigue. Here, the intoxicating scents of thyme and rosemary float in the air, the song of the cicadas and the Mistral breeze call for relaxation and vacation!

The garrigue, a nature sculpted by the sun and the wind

The garrigue finds its balance in the contrasts of the Mediterranean climate. Hot, dry summers, mild winters, and the Mistral wind, as a conductor, allow the garrigue to thrive. On these poor limestone soils, nature has adapted and created a robust and olfactory ecosystem.

A territory between nature and traditions

En Land of Argence, the garrigue is not just a landscape, it is a way of life! The garrigue serves as pasture for bulls and Camargue horses who frolic freely in the herdsIt's also a favorite playground for hikers, nature lovers, and history buffs. Along the trails, you might encounter foxes, hares, and partridges, and spot birds of prey in the sky.

I left the path and ran to touch their small leaves. A powerful fragrance rose like a cloud and enveloped me entirely. It was an unfamiliar scent, a dark and strong scent that blossomed in my head and penetrated to my heart.

In the footsteps of the past

In the shade of a pine tree, the scrubland reveals vestiges of the past. This landscape bears the imprint of a thousand-year-old history. Troglodyte dwellings can be observed at the top of the Pic de l'Aiguille, and the mysterious Abbey of Saint-Roman carved into the limestone rock continues to reveal its secrets. These two points of interest offer breathtaking views of the Rhône Valley and the Alpilles !
