Chapelle du Prieuré de Broussan

Presentation

The Romanesque chapel of the Saint-Vincent de Broussan priory in Bellegarde is located on the Way of Saint James.

Located at the exit of Bellegarde, on the road to Saint-Gilles, the Broussan estate is located on the southern slope of the Costières mountains. The entire estate consists of a rectangular farmhouse extended by two perpendicular wings. The interior courtyard is bordered to the south by the chapel, of which only the southern wall and the apse can be seen.

The magnificent polychrome portal immediately catches the eye, particularly with its two small columns supporting a semicircular arch. Inside, the single nave is composed of three bays and ends with the choir, formed by a semicircular apse.

Every August, a concert, organized as part of the "Music and Old Stones" festival, is held in the chapel. A guided tour preceding the concert allows heritage enthusiasts to learn more about the site's history.
