Saturday morning… Troglodyte walk
We suggest starting your day with a short stroll in the Aiguille massif. It's the highest point in the Terre d'Argence region and is also home to a troglodyte abbey unique in Europe: the Abbey of Saint Roman. Carved into the rock over 1000 years ago, this site is as intriguing as it is captivating.
A short hike allows you to discover scrubland and maquis, ending with the discovery of the abbey.
If you come in summer, please note that aperitifs are organized every other Wednesday from June 15 to August 30 at the abbey (at book online). The perfect opportunity to declare your love to your sweetheart, at sunset, with a glass of Costières de Nîmes wine in hand!

Saturday afternoon: discovery of Beaucaire and wine tasting
Not far from the Massif de l'Aiguille is the charming town of Beaucaire, City of Art & HistoryTake the time to explore the cobbled streets of the historic center, the fortress, and the Place Vieille, where you can enjoy a fresh fruit juice or homemade ice cream. Your stroll ends on the quays, along the Canal du Rhône à Sète, where several terraces await you for a coffee in the sun.
For the aperitif: tasting in the vineyards
Between the Rhône and Costières rivers, the Terre d'Argence region enjoys a sunny climate ideal for growing vines. Take the car; just a few kilometers separate you from beautiful wine estates that will be happy to welcome you for a tasting of their wines:
- In Beaucaire : Tavernel Estate (organic wine) and Mas des Plantades
- In Bellegarde : Saint-Louis la Perdrix Castle
Candle light dinner
The Auberge de l'Amandin will delight gourmets. By the fire or by the pool, the Chef prepares local specialties with fresh produce. The location is magnificent and perfect for a romantic evening!
Sunday, fun outdoor activity!
After a peaceful night's sleep and a hearty breakfast in the garden of Domaine des Clos, you're ready for new adventures!
Direction Bellegarde by the ViaRhôna, which runs along the Rhône-Sète canal. 12 kilometers separate the port of Beaucaire from that of Bellegarde. Once you arrive at the port, head towards the center of the village then drive to the Tower of the Madonna, which offers a beautiful panorama over the plain.
After a short stop, take your mounts again to visit the Farmhouse in Provence, a producer and distiller of essential oils. You can stroll through the fragrant gardens of Gaël, the producer, and discover the transformation of aromatic plants into perfume. You leave the Mas en Provence with good vibes to continue your journey!
Lunch in the port of Bellegarde
By bike, head back towards the port. There, you'll find an excellent spot for lunch by the water: the Nautical Stop.
You can enjoy fresh fish and local specialties. The restaurant also offers a very fine wine list.
After lunch, it's time to hit the road again and slowly finish off this weekend.
