Protected natural area

This region on the shores of the Mediterranean and which covers the departments of Gard and Bouches-du-Rhône is formed by the Rhone delta.
Camargue is a paradise for lovers of the great outdoors. A wild nature, a preserved territory that is home to a large number of birds.
It is a unique region, a world worth discovering for travelers in search of authenticity!

Land of tradition

But Camargue is also a land of traditions, and you cannot discover it without meeting its inhabitants and experiencing the traditional festivals of its villages: feria, bodega, Camargue race, abrivado, encierro... If this vocabulary is foreign to you, it is time to remedy it!
Here are some of our famous festivals not to be missed to see bulls and discover the world of bouvine:
- October party in Bellegarde
- Madeleine festival in Beaucaire (July)
- Basketry festival in Vallabrègues (August)
- All the votive festivals in the villages during the nice days

Who says Camargue says horses...

Camargue horses, those famous white horses that gallop their mane in the wind on beaches as far as the eye can see... here is a pretty image that immediately comes to mind! The Camargue National Reserve is a preserved place where you can admire them and enjoy a quiet environment of exceptional beauty.
The Camargue horse is small, rustic with a gray or white coat. It is the guardian's companion and plays a main role in our traditional local festivals: equestrian celebrations, Camargue races, equestrian games in the streets of our villages with bulls.

Small, but sturdy!
They say that this horse is made of courage, Mistral and salt!
Indeed, he is used to the strong wind blowing on Camargue lands - the Mistral - he is an enduring and very resistant horse.

Discover manades

The Manades are the breeding grounds for Camargue horses and bulls.
In the middle of nature, come and visit the bulls in their natural environment, it is a unique universe, an essential one to discover during your stay.
Manadiers (the breeders, owners of the manades) and guardians (guardian of the manade, he takes care of the herd and travels the wide open spaces on horseback)

If you are in Terre d'Argence in summer, you can visit the Manade du Rhône (visits in towed carts, bull sorting demonstration, guardians snack bar). Find out more!
Before leaving, don't forget to try a bull keeper, a dish with sauce typical of Camargue!
